School Uniform, Equipment and Expectations

At Lord Lawson of Beamish Academy, our uniform plays an important role in promoting a sense of community, equality and pride. A consistent approach to uniform helps create a purposeful learning environment, reduces unnecessary distractions and ensures that all students present themselves in a manner that reflects the high standards of the Academy.

Students are expected to wear the correct uniform at all times whilst in school and when travelling to and from the Academy. Where appropriate, students may also be required to wear Academy uniform on educational visits and when representing the school.

Parents and carers are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the Academy’s Uniform Policy before purchasing items. If there is any uncertainty regarding the suitability of an item, families should contact the relevant Year Team for advice before making a purchase.

In addition to wearing the correct uniform, all students are expected to:

  • Arrive at school ready to learn
  • Bring a suitable school bag and all required equipment each day
  • Bring and use their mobile phone pouch
  • Meet the Academy’s expectations regarding jewellery, make-up, nails and personal presentation
  • Wear only items that have been issued or authorised by the Academy.

By working together, we can ensure that all students begin each day ready to learn and contribute positively to the Academy community.  The full uniform policy can be found on our ‘Academies Policies’ page.
